FAQ

Q: Do you take reservations?
A: We do not take reservations and we have a “first come, first serve” policy.

Q: What is your busy time?
A: Our high season runs from March through July. Peak hours are each night around sunset.

Q: Is there a wait?
A: During peak hours in season there most likely will be a wait. We have two, full-service bars and a long pier with seating on the water to make your wait comfortable. Often, you can order appetizers while you wait.

Q: If I get a great table, can I just hang out and enjoy the view post dinner?
A: When we have other customers waiting for a table, we ask you to cooperate by leaving your table shortly after payment, so we can accommodate the next party. If you decide to stay after your meal, we invite you to enjoy one of our three bars.

Q: Do you accommodate large parties?
A: Yes, we have tables seating up to 12 people. Please remember that your whole party must be present, to be seated. During peak hours, we cannot guarantee large parties being seated together. A gratuity of 20% is added to parties of 7 or more patrons.

Q: Is all your fish fresh?
A: We purchase directly from the docks of Mayport and list all our catches on our menu. We supplement our local catches with fresh imports from other parts of the world. Our menu will list the origin and species of all catches.

Q: What frying oil does Cap’s use?
A: We use Canola Oil because it contains no trans fatty acids.

Q: Do you accommodate special diets?
A: We can alter certain dishes, but do not prepare diet-specific meals.

Q: Is your restaurant child friendly?
A: Yes and we have a Kid’s Menu. There is a beach with an old cedar tree to climb on and a tire swing. We do request to keep an eye on your children. Please, do not let them run around on the dining deck. We use glass, forks and other sharp objects that can cause serious injury to your child and other patrons, as well as our staff. We do not allow children in “The Inside” dining room or, by Florida law, at any bar.

Q: Do you have valet parking?
A: In season, we offer complimentary valet parking on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening.

Q: Do you accept gift cards?
A: We do accept Cap’s and S.A.I.R.A. gift cards. No other gift cards or coupons are valid.

Q: Are dogs allowed on your deck? A: No. The deck is just too busy to accommodate dogs.

Q: Is there a dress code? A: Not really, but you do need a shirt and shoes. We serve all our drinks in glass and it is not a safe environment for bare feet.  Tank tops and (wet) bathing suits are taboo as well.
